Robin Fitzgerald Charlsen - The dramatic poses she portrays in her work and the mixed use of color achieve the desired affect to accentuate the musculature of the human form. Robin begins the pieces you see by initially putting a base coat of various shades of watercolor into each section. Then the use of colored pencil creates the three dimensional effect and the vibrant colors. Finally, the works are finished with pen and ink. It is definitely a style all her own.
Relating to the pieces you see here, Robin says: "Here I began experimenting with dramatic poses and colors, and that finally evolved into the "Torso" pieces, which really are my favorites. I did nine "torso" pieces in all. I love the way they almost become a landscape of line and color. Without any distinguishing features (e.g., face, hair) the image becomes very liquid and fundamental.
